Garowe: 18 April 2019: Women in Media Initiative WIMI held a brainstorming conference for female journalists in Garowe aimed at improving media coverage in reporting GBV amid unsolved murder and rape incidents in Puntland.
If well-organized within our newsrooms, the media has the power to influence the society’s believe on key issues even mobilize action, and I call for female journalists and puntland media at general to step-up in covering gender-based-violence'', said at Nasro Abdirizak Executive director of WIMI.
Also WIMI called Punrland government to bring justice to the murders of Aisha Ilyas 12 years old raped and murdered in Galkayo and Hodan Ahmed A mother who were raped and killed in Garowe.
This brainstorming meeting came after when last months happened in Puntland different rape and killing cases, the last case murdered Hodan Ahmed a mother with two children resident in Garowe.
